There are a number of current initiatives to help defend North Carolina's environment from various threats. Below are existing advocacy campaigns to protect our air, water, and quality of life.
Congress needs to hear from folks like you right now about the need to prioritize clean energy legislation in 2010 and vote 'No' on any attempts to block the Clean Air Act's authority to regulate dirty coal plants.
The controversies surrounding the proposed Titan Cement plant have been highlighted in our Public Alerts over the past year. However, an emerging political scandal and a permit that may be approved any day now means we need your help (again)!
Currently, there aren't any federal laws that oversee toxic coal sludge ponds - North Carolina is home to 19 of these ponds, 12 of which are classified as "high hazard." Take action today to urge the approval of the EPA's proposed rules.
